Upcoming Calendar continued... Wyckoff Family YMCA is pleased to present “Billy’s Buddies”, a  brand-new outreach         program for children with Down syndrome and their families. September 16 from 9:30-11:30am in the Kuiken Community Room at the      Wyckoff Y. There is no cost for this event. Parents will be introduced while children  2-6 enjoy a creative arts class led by a special needs instructor. Please call Kathy Elleo at the Y at 201-891-2081 as pre-registration is  required. September 2006 Monthly Update
SEPTEMBER                                                                     
September 16 “Billy’s Buddies” is a new program for      
children ages 2 to 6 with Down syndrome and their families at the
Wyckoff YMCA. The kick-off event is from 9:30 to 11:30am on
Saturday, September 16, 2006. Parents will be introduced while
children enjoy a creative arts class led by a qualified special
needs instructor. There is no cost for this event. Pre-registration is
required:  Please call Kathy Elleo at the Y at 201-891-2081.  
September 17   Special Games-Special People  is a field day
designed to give those with special needs an opportunity to     
participate through sports at the JCC on the Palisades in Tenafly.

OCTOBER                                                                   
October 7 The second annual Buddy Walk of Bergen County
is scheduled for 10/07/06 at 11am at Wyckoff Community Park in
Wyckoff, NJ.  A one-mile advocacy walk to promote acceptance
and inclusion of all people with Down syndrome in our area.  In
person registration as well as on-line registration forms found at:                                 
October  14 Helpful Hands Annual Casino Night at The
Bethwood, Totowa, NJ from 7pm to 11pm.All proceeds from the
Casino Night will go to support the Special Needs Fund and other
family-centered activities of Helpful Hands NREIC

Northeast Regional Early Intervention Collaborative
The Annual Leonia Health Fair is
scheduled for September 30th
from 10am to 4pm at the Anna C.

Rutger's is interviewing parents of    
children with chronic health conditions
(e.g. asthma, cystic fibrosis, etc.)  on
how they balance their work                   
responsibilities.  They have gift         
certificates of $10 for a shorter survey
(20 min.) plus an additional gift        
certificate of $25 for longer survey (1
hour).  The study is confidential but the
aggregated results will be shared with
employers and policymakers. If I
