Northeast Regional Early Intervention Collaborative
FAMILY CONNECTIONS SUPPORT
GROUP MEETING SCHEDULE:
Families with young children are
invited to attend bi-monthly       
discussion groups on various     
topics related to the experiences of
families raising young children with
challenges.  Topics may include:
Inclusion, Transition to Preschool,
resources and support, sibling   
issues, the emotional process of
acceptance, stress management,
Autism, or other issues pertinent to
the group. The JCC on the

Our fourth annual Helpful Hands
Casino Night  to benefit the     
Special Needs Fund was held       
October 14, 2006 at The Bethwood
in Totowa, N.J. and was a GREAT
success!

The New Jersey Department of Human Services’ Division of Medi-
cal Assistance and Health Services (DMAHS) administers the
FamilyCare/Medicaid program for children under 21 who are     
eligible to receive Early & Periodic Screening, Diagnosis &    
Treatment services including regular “well-child” visits. These  
services are available to children enrolled in NJ FamilyCare/
Medicaid at no cost.  It is very important to keep children current
with their vaccinations to protect them from serious illnesses and
diseases. DMAHS strives to improve access to medical care and

HELPFUL HANDS TRANSITION TO PRESCHOOL          
WORKSHOPS
If you have a child in Early Intervention who will be turning 3 within
the next 6 months, you should familiarize yourself with the       
transition process and learn how the changes to IDEA which went
into effect on September 5, 2006 will affect your child:
November 14, 2006  The Children’s Therapy Center,    29-01
Berkshire Road, Fair Lawn, will host a Transition to Preschool
Workshop from 7pm—9pm.  This is a FREE event but registration
is required.  Unfortunately, childcare is NOT available.  Please
