Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) are reported as the sixth most commonly classified
disability among young people receiving special education services in American
schools, and it has been estimated that as many as 500,000 young people in the U.S.
(birth to 21 years) have an Autism Spectrum Disorder (Center for Disease Control, 2006).
A new publication from the University of Minnesota’s Institute on Community Integration
“Impact: Feature Issue on Supporting Success in School and Beyond for Students with
Autism Spectrum Disorders” provides information on strategies and resources that can
assist educators, families and others to support the academic, social, and vocational
success of PreK-12 students with ASD.

“Assistive Technology in Education”, a workshop
for Parents of Students with Disabilities (ages 3 to
21 years) will be presented by SPAN (Statewide
Parent Advocacy Network) at the Learning         
Resource Centers across the State:

COSAC will present a Spanish
Autism Series for Latino      
families with children              
diagnosed on the Autism    
spectrum.  This Workshop will
be on March 24, 2007 in Bergen
County and be presented      
entirely in Spanish. It will       
address issues related to      
autism including effectively   
advocating for children,         
accessing critical information
